My friend Grace, is a clothing designer and has created some amazing pieces. For many years she owned a store in the Glen called Ella louvi. It was such an adorable store where you could buy one of a kind pieces. I was able to shoot a lot of the pieces in her boutique. I even own some of my favorites that I couldn’t resist purchasing after photographing them. Anyway, there is this one blouse that Grace designed that looked incredibly amazing on our model Cheryl. The intricate floral design complements the silk top and I’m obsessed. Doesn’t Cheryl look amazing in it?! Cheryl is a Chicago blogger that you should follow! Check her fashion blog here.
Photographing high school senior girls is seriously my most favorite client to photograph. There’s something about capturing this step into adulthood. I encourage my clients to hire a makeup artist and hair stylist if they can because it’s fun to get pampered for the shoot! I photographed Dally for her 8th grade graduation so it was extra special for me to photograph her again for her senior pics. Dally, you have grown into a gorgeous woman!
The first 3 pictures are her 8th grade graduation pictures and the last 3 are her senior pics.
I found a GEM of a store! I was walking the streets of Wilmette during a sidewalk sale. On my way to get tacos (DUH!) there was a gorgeous window display. In the window I saw an a vintage claw foot tub completely filled with flowers and a stunning chandelier hanging over it. I told my friend, “I MUST DO A PHOTOSHOOT in that window sometime!” I decided to be vulnerable and walked into the store and introduced myself to the owner. She was a delight!! She was so thrilled that I loved her display. I asked her if I could shoot some pictures using her window display and she said YES!! I was beyond excited and contacted another blogger/influencer that I knew would be perfect! I had one more element that I knew I needed to implement. I had found this gorgeous vintage wedding dress at a thrift store that I was dying to get pictures of. I’m really happy with how the pics turned out. Here’s a few:
What is the golden hour?
It is about an hour before sunset and it is (almost) every photographers favorite time to photograph clients.
The sun is not as bright.
The clients won’t have to squint and the sun emits the most beautiful golden colors.
It lights up tall grass.
It glistens through leaves.
It is just SO dreamy!
It doesn’t last very long and can be difficult to catch which is why it’s so beloved.
It doesn’t happen every night but if it’s a clear sky, your chances are pretty good.
Here’s an example of a session that I was able to capture during the golden hour.
